STEP 1: ORBIT ELEMENTS

Dt, ti

Variable Symbol Value
Time 1 t1 23:00:00.00
Time 2 t2 23:05:28.22
Time 3 t3 23:11:10.00

The first calculation we will do with the observations is to find the difference in time between the first and second observations and the second and third observations, respectively:

Dt21 = t2 - t1
Dt32 = t3 - t2
Dt31 = t3 - t1

Dt21 = 328.22 seconds
D
t32 = 341.78 seconds
Dt31 = 670.00 seconds

The values of Dt21, Dt32 and Dt31 will now be used to find the first values that we will require to find the second geocentric range of the satellite (at time t2):

t1 = Dt32 / Dt31
t2 = t1 [ (Dt21)(Dt31 + Dt32) ] / 6
t3 = Dt21 / Dt31

t4 = t1 [ (Dt21)(Dt31 + Dt21) ] / 6

t1 = 0.5101194
t2 =  28233.955 s2
t3 = 0.4898806
t4 = 27855.560 s2
