THE MIMOSA SATELLITE

CASTOR reached another milestone as it topped 3,600 satellites detected since January 1, 2007. At the present time, its catalogue stands at 3,608 individual satellites.

The 3,600th satellite was the new Cosmos 2468 telecommunications satellite, launched on September 8, 2010.

CASTOR has made modifications to its existing system in order to peer deeper into both the LEO and MEO satellite realms. This modification appears to be effective, since it detects an average of 10 previously undetected satellites per tracking session.

CASTOR is attempting to reach a total of 4,000 satellites by the end of 2011. At the present time, it is just under 400 away from this goal.
